So, I’m just getting hip to this app. Mobile Passport is a free app that’s authorized by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that allows for U.S. citizens as well as Canadian visitors to expedite their entry process into the U.S.
Once you download the app, you’ll be able to create a profile to include your passport information, input your travel information in the New Trip section, then answer a series of questions related to your trip. Once submitted, you’ll receive an electronic receipt and a QR code which you’ll present to a CBP officer upon your arrival to Customs.
So far, there are only 21 airports and 1 seaport within the U.S. that utilize this process, but it appears to be expanding. To read more about the app and to see the current list of airports and the seaport that allow this capability, visit CBP’s website here. There are also some FAQs at the bottom of that page.
The app is available for download from the Google Play and Apple App Stores.
It looks like it could be a nifty tool, I plan to test it out pretty soon on my next trip out of the country. I’ll keep you guys posted…..
